The Green Apple Day of Service is a fun, interactive way to engage students and community members in an activity that showcases sustainability. This event was developed by the US Green Building Council's Center for Green Schools in 2012 and has involved nearly 1 million people in schools spanning over 70 countries.

Your project should make measurable change on one or more of the three pillars of a green school: environmental impact, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability literacy. Each school project can be different. There are many project ideas listed on the Green Apple Day of Service website.

Projects can take place any time from

August 2019 through March 2020.

Register your project on the website so that you

can be recognized as a participant.

You may also be able to receive

funding assistance if you register

your project during September and

October. In order to receive your

Talkin' Trash Challenge points you

must have your project completed

by March 31st.

To register the project you will need to create a USGBC account if you don't already have one. Make sure that you connect to the Horry County Schools member organization. The Horry County Schools Member ID is #2261418826150453. You must register your project to receive your points.

Projects should be registered by December 31, 2019 and points will be issued for the month in which the event is held.
