What the visit includes

• A presentation about recycling in Horry County
• A guided tour of the landfill and the Materials Recycling Facility
• The composting area, where all HCS food waste goes

Before you apply

• Your school principal must endorse the application
• Schools arrange their own transportation through the bus office
• No personal vehicles are allowed on landfill property, so let parents know
• Trips are awarded first come, first served, based on funds and calendar availability

Getting reimbursed

After the trip, send the completed Field Trip Voucher Form, documentation from the bus office showing mileage, and substitute teacher costs if any. Reimbursement comes back as a check payable to the school. Everything must be in by May 30.

How it works

• Submit the request form with your event details
• An SWA representative contacts you to schedule
• You arrange a drop-off location and time, and the SWA delivers
• The SWA collects the containers after the event

Worth knowing

The second page is a compliance agreement. Containers are returned empty and clean, brought to a central pick-up location, and the organization signing accepts responsibility for the equipment while it is on loan.
